Unlocking the experience of a recruiter at FPT India

At the beginning of 2024, Lương Thị Khánh Huyền (FWA) had a 6-week onsite trip to India. Working at two offices of FPT Software India in Hyderabad, Telangana, and the office of FPT Automotive India in Pune, Maharashtra, she had the opportunity to explore and immerse herself in unique experiences with her Indian friends.

Khánh Huyền, a member of the 10x generation, is currently a Global Talent Acquisition Specialist at the Resource Assurance Department of FSOFT (FWA). Her business trip was part of a plan to attract and develop talent in India. Besides work, she also had some interesting personal experiences.

During this trip, Khánh Huyền stayed at a hotel in Pune, Hyderabad. There, she joined other FPT onsite staff in going to the market, cooking, and strolling through the streets. One of her most memorable experiences was spending an entire day exploring tourist attractions in Bidar, Karnataka, India.

She and her colleagues spent time visiting Bidar Fort, which still has impressive architectural relics from the time of the Bidar kings. They also visited the Bidar Royal Tombs, where kings and officials are buried, with intricately carved tombs. Additionally, they toured the Guru Nanak temple of the Sikhs, where everyone had to adhere to dress code regulations and were guided through religious ceremonies.

For Huyền, India is a country with an admirable sense of environmental protection. People have switched from plastic bags to paper and cloth bags in stores and supermarkets, and they use glass or paper cups in coffee shops.

Additionally, she was deeply impressed by the unique culinary style of this land. “Indians eat very spicy if it’s spicy, very salty if it’s salty, and extremely sweet if it’s sweet. Their dishes are not only diverse in color but also rich in flavor. Although they use spoons and forks, most of them eat with their hands,” Huyền said.

One interesting thing Huyền found is that “80% of marriages in India are arranged by families. Due to the diversity in culture, religion, and social class, ‘matching social status’ is a prerequisite for a couple to get married. Additionally, religious constraints also result in a very low divorce rate in India. Indians can identify a person’s hometown, ancestral occupation, social class, religion, and even mother tongue just by their full name.”

“These experiences are truly valuable. I have gained knowledge about India’s culture and history and understood the lives of the onsite staff and local people. This provides material for my conversations with candidates,” Huyền said.

Huyền believes that to have the opportunity to go onsite and explore the world, FSOFTers, especially women, need to thoroughly prepare themselves. First, improving language skills, especially English, is extremely important. Additionally, everyone should enhance their professional skills through relevant courses and certifications in their field. Participating in international projects within the company will help accumulate experience and expand their network. Furthermore, proactively discussing onsite aspirations with managers and learning about the culture of the country they will be visiting will also help them integrate more easily.
