AI Hackathon #3 Finals: Crowning the Champion with an outstanding AI Document processing solution

Out of 41 registered teams, 20 teams advanced to the live competition day of AI Hackathon #3 with the theme “KT/KB Technical Solution (Document)”, which took place online last weekend, on November 16, 2025.

Afterward, the top 7 teams competed in the Presentation round, where they presented and defended their solutions before the panel of judges, including Mr. To Trong Hieu (BCC.COE), Mr. Dao Thanh Binh (FJP.FAI), and Mr. Le Hong Nam (FJP.NVI). The judging criteria focused on technical quality, creativity, practical deployability, and real-world value for businesses. The top three prizes were awarded as follows:

Champion Prize – 8 million VND went to the FHM.QAI Liems team, from the FHM.QAI unit, for their initiative in implementing a custom pipeline for each file type, especially processing Excel files by breaking down their structure, identifying macros, and mapping headers. Their solution uses hybrid search combining full-text and semantic search, focusing on cost optimization while enhancing error control throughout the data processing workflow.

Second Prize – 5 million VND was awarded to the DLG2 team from FJP.DLG, impressed with their ability to handle various file formats and optimize operations using a lightweight local model. The team applied hybrid search effectively, focused on accurate metadata mapping, ensured fast processing speed, and allowed flexible customization for each data type, aiming for practical results at low cost.

Third Prize – 3 million VND went to the Mímir team from FHN.EES, introduced a new approach by using OOXML to directly parse Office files, building clear tree structures, and leveraging Copilot reasoning to enhance accuracy. The team particularly emphasized preserving metadata, handling conflicts, and optimizing lookup operations, making the system efficient and secure.
In addition to the main prizes, the organizing committee awarded three supplementary prizes worth 2 million VND each to teams from CEP.SME, FNS.HKD, and FJP.DMG, recognizing solutions with high applicability, suitable for industry needs, and easy practical deployment.

Commenting on the quality of this year’s solutions, Mr. To Trong Hieu noted that the teams demonstrated clear creative thinking, with each taking a different approach but all showing potential for integration into stronger solutions in the future. He assessed the initial results as positive, especially in the ability to handle diverse data. However, to prove their true strength, teams need to continue testing with wider and more complex datasets in the next round. He also emphasized that Knowledge Base will remain a key focus in December 2025 and throughout 2026.

Previously, FJP successfully organized AI Hackathon #1 in August and AI Hackathon #2 in September to help OB employees approach and practice AI tools within the software development lifecycle (SDLC), thereby developing AI applications for maintenance, CR response, and AMS based on existing systems. On the occasion of the unit’s 20th anniversary, FJP collaborated with the Business Operations Committee (BCC) to organize AI Hackathon #3 and expanded the competition to cover all of FSOFT.
