Don’t hesitate to join FPT Japan for more lessons and growth

Ms. Ha Thi Huyen Trang, a member of the FNS.DEV team, recently marked her one-year anniversary at FJP, Japan, sharing her enriching experiences about work, life, and Japanese culture. In harmony with fellow in FSOFT who embarked on this journey together, Ms. Trang is eager to share her insights, motivating those aspiring to become global FSOFT members.

Huyen Trang’s FSOFT journey began in 2021 when she joined the FJP department. At the time, her husband was already working in Japan, and she yearned to explore the Land of the Rising Sun, both its culture and people. Despite initial delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Trang temporarily joined the FDN.DSI unit while diligently honing her Japanese language skills, inspired by her husband’s support. Strapped for time to attend formal language classes, Trang committed herself to self-study, practicing daily through lessons and conversations with her husband. In just one year, she not only achieved the N3 Japanese certificate but also conquered the N2 level. Her ongoing goal is to further enhance her communication skills and pursue the prestigious N1 certification.

Upon entering the realm of FPT Japan, Ha Thi Huyen Trang initially felt a sense of uncertainty, a blend of “newbie” apprehension and the challenges of acclimating to a foreign land and colleagues. However, with the unwavering support of her colleagues, she quickly integrated into her new work environment. FNS, despite its global nature with employees from diverse countries (primarily Japanese), exuded a familiar atmosphere, resembling her hometown Da Nang. Trang fondly recollects, “The working environment at FNS is not vastly different from Da Nang. Despite the international blend of employees, mostly Japanese, everyone is talented, diligent, and amicable, which truly fuels my motivation.”

In Japan, dedication, responsibility, and proficient skills are ingrained values, ensuring seamless collaborations even in the face of challenging working partnerships. Japanese friends and colleagues radiate enthusiasm and camaraderie, not only supporting one another at work but also forging social connections over shared outings and team-building activities. Thus, the key to success lies in readiness for work and a willingness to embrace the joys of life outside the office.

Similar to Vietnam, FNS actively organizes numerous bonding activities for its employees, including celebrations for International Women’s Day, October 20th, Mid-Autumn Festival, birthdays, holidays, and Tet. These events bring immense joy to employees, leaving new joiners pleasantly surprised. Japanese colleagues have expressed their appreciation, emphasizing the rarity of such activities in Japanese companies. FNS is cherished by its international workforce, a fact that greatly delights Trang.

After a year, Huyen Trang has seamlessly adapted to Japanese life and its warm-hearted residents. Her neighbors epitomize friendliness, exchanging greetings each morning before work and sharing delightful homemade dishes during weekends. Tending to plants together has further fostered a sense of community, rendering Trang’s life in Japan remarkably akin to her experiences in Vietnam.

During her time in Japan, Trang has explored various locales, from the vibrant metropolises of Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Kyoto to the enchanting charm of Kobe. She eagerly anticipates the prospect of experiencing the scenic wonders of Hokkaido in the near future.

Huyen Trang confides, “I aspire to continue my journey with Japan, discovering uncharted experiences and exploring new destinations. If you have an affection for Japan, don’t hesitate to embark on your own adventure.”

Ms. Vo Thi Chau Thanh, a native of FSOFT Da Nang who ventured to work in Japan, shared her insights as well. Her experience in dealing directly with customers while at OB has equipped her with a deep understanding of customer sentiments, allowing her to anticipate their thoughts and respond effectively. When engaging with customers via video in an offshore setting, she feels less pressure and gains greater insight into customer perspectives compared to on-site interactions.

Furthermore, Ms. Chau Thanh offers motivation to fellow FSOFTers aspiring to work in Japan or other international destinations. She emphasizes, “Nearshore is a company that brings together a diverse array of nationalities, including Japanese and individuals from countries like Sri Lanka and Malaysia. Working in a multicultural environment teaches you how to bridge cultural gaps, achieve harmony, and collaborate effectively, imparting invaluable lessons and fostering personal growth.”
