Any company can create sustainable values to the society and thanks to little internal changes. FSOFT undoubtedly proves that…

It is common to come across the “green” working environment in any campuses of FSOFT. Since the inception of the design concept, buildings such as F-Town, F-Complex, F-Ville have been filled with “small gardens” or utilizing natural light for workspaces, blending the structures with nature to optimize electricity and water usage, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

In the office, FSOFTers also opt for reusable items such as water bottles and glass cups for serving tea to guests, or personal mugs when purchasing drinks at coffee counters, helping to reduce plastic waste. A small corner in pantry areas is designated for used battery disposal. This “special waste” is then transferred to specialized processing facilities to prevent negative environmental impacts from improper disposal.

Not only do they take care of thousands of green trees around the office premises, but in every personal workspace, FSOFTers also plant thousands of trees on S-shaped country and in various cities around the world.

In 2019, during the “Run for Green” campaign to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary, FSOFTers ran over 20,000 km, translating into 20,000 newly planted trees. Trees beyond the FSOFT campuses are monitored and cared for for at least the first year to ensure their robust growth and health before being handed over to responsible managing organizations. In 2023, FSOFT continues to undertake 2 notable tree planting projects: planting 1,500 trees in the Xuân Liên cajuput forest, Thanh Hoá province, and 1,002 trees in the barren hill region of Phong Điền district, Thừa Thiên – Huế province.

Not only in Vietnam, FSOFTers in Japan are also actively participating in tree planting projects. In September 2019, the FPT Japan delegation traveled hundreds of kilometers to the Neba village (Nagano province) to plant 200 sakura trees – a symbol of the resilient and harmonious spirit of the Japanese people. In June 2022, FJP members continued by planting 333 trees, greening the coastline at Millennium Hope Hill Park, contributing to the recovery from the remnants of the tsunami over a decade ago.

With efforts to create a green working environment, along with sustainable human resources policies, and procurement management, FSOFT recently achieved the Silver EcoVadis certification. EcoVadis is currently the world’s largest platform used to assess a company’s CSR activities and sustainable development.

“Every day, we use gasoline, natural gas, water from nature… and generate a certain amount of emissions to the environment. Without activities to protect the nature, reduce greenhouse gas effects on the environment, we are destroying the living environment for future generations,” shared by Trinh Minh Viet, Director of FSOFT Hue, during the presentation of 1,002 trees for the hill region in Phong Dien district, Thua Thien – Hue province.

Love and sharing have become the defining characteristics of FPTers in general and FSOFTers in particular. In 2010, FPT selected March 13th as “FPT Day for the Community,” every year, a day when each employee dedicates one day’s salary to contribute to society through specific and practical actions. Over a decade, over VND700 billion has been mobilized from the FPT Corporation’s budget and member companies, FPT employees, and philanthropists to implement thousands of meaningful programs. From this fund, hundreds of new bridges in river areas, dozens of schools standing tall in the mountains and remote border areas have been built, providing opportunities for development and access to knowledge for tens of thousands of children and people in disadvantaged regions.

With the same spirit, FSOFTers tirelessly “sow the seeds of happiness and harvest smiles”. Every year, hundreds of volunteer programs of different scales are organized by FSOFT’s Labor Union, regional branches, units, and youth groups, in collaboration with the volunteer activities of FPT Corporation and Hope Foundation. FSOFTers have gifted valuable items for long-term use and contributed to shaping the future of the younger generation in highland areas, border regions, and flood-affected areas. Activities include building schools, and libraries, providing computers and study materials, donating equipment for sales operations, and more.

There were journeys where 3 hours of driving only cover 9km of mountainous roads, moving at the pace of a pedestrian, while the team was hungry. The instant noodle boxes left on the vehicle become a treasure, but even cooking them is not a simple task. Some carried firewood, others carried pots to trek to the stream to fetch water to cook the noodles. But this was nothing compared to a trip where vehicles carrying the FSOFT volunteer team and the relief goods were cut off by a landslide. Not wanting the students to wait for their gifts, the whole team got off the vehicles, waded through, and carried each box of supplies across the landslide section, shaking, simultaneously feeling exhausted and… frightened.

Each journey is arduous, some are distant, and others are bumpy. However, when seeing the joy of their fellow countrymen, of the children, all the hardships seem to vanish for FSOFTers. “Visiting remote areas not only helps us understand the material difficulties, and living conditions, but also allows us to feel the strong pursuit of knowledge in the hearts of the little ones in the highlands. Through these experiences, I have changed my perspective on life, appreciating and striving more in my daily work,” shared by Vu Quoc Bao (FPT Automotive).

In each volunteer activity with colleagues, Bui Vinh Huy Hoang (FPT Software Innovation) always brings his camera to capture beautiful moments for the team. Hoang shared: “The long journey and sitting in the car make everyone a bit tired, but when arriving at the school and seeing the kids welcoming us like newly returned singers to the village, all fatigue disappears. The kids, looking tiny, some even shy and hesitant at first, gradually get used to it, then become lively in front of my camera. Seeing them laugh with sparkling eyes, I feel both love and emotion. The enthusiastic teachers and parents add to the warmth. What could be more wonderful than bringing joy to the kids and receiving so many wonderful emotions in return?”

Just like that, FSOFTers gather and contribute small things that make extraordinary impacts. One time, it is FHN donating 4 tons of rice and 8,000 eggs directly to people facing difficulties, affected by restricted mobility and trade during the Covid-19 pandemic. Other times, it’s a group of friends from DPS Quy Nhon (now FI) wandering the streets on Christmas Eve to provide warm meals to homeless people and the elderly street cleaners. Countless meaningful journeys and loving hearts of FSOFTers over the past 25 years cannot be fully enumerated.

In addition to providing material and spiritual support to people in disadvantaged areas, elderly individuals living alone, and orphaned children in shelters, FSOFT also invests considerable effort to contribute to building the technology community. This includes guiding and training young talents for the future of the Vietnamese technology industry.

FCT Club is one of those initiatives worth mentioning. Established in 2020 from the idea of FSOFT Chairwoman. Chu Thi Thanh Ha, and led by Mr. Phan Phuong Dat – former Deputy CEO of FSOFT, Head of FPT Human Resources Department, Head of FUNiX Training Department. Over the past 4 years, FCT Club has selected over 150 Vietnamese students to nurture programming and technology knowledge through a unique and in-depth online study program in Computer Science. Each course lasts for 3 years and is fully sponsored by FSOFT. Chairwoman of FSOFT, Chu Thi Thanh Ha, emphasized that FPT/FSOFT are ready to assist students on their career paths, regardless of whether they are still active in the club or not. “FPT Software are ready to welcome you back and work together to build an environment that brings great values to the company and takes Vietnamese intelligence to the world”, she stated.

Alongside that are numerous training programs, scholarships for tech talents like AI Residency, technology-focused competitions for community engagement such as AI Hackathon 2022, Denso Factory Hacks 2023, ChatGPT Hackathon, IoT Challenge 2023, and sponsorships for tech community events like Google I/O Extend, Game Geek, and more.

For 25 years, FSOFT has ceaselessly spread love to the community, taking flight towards global contributions to contribute to a brighter future.
