FSOFT Small Summer Camp in Japan: A satisfying experience for both children and parents

The first summer camp of 2024, organized by FPT Japan Academy, has successfully concluded, leaving lasting impressions on organizers, parents, and students alike. This camp, specifically designed for children of FPT Software (FSOFT Small) employees, offered much more than just a vacation.

More Than Just Fun and Games

With the theme “Travel Far to Grow,” the camp focused on developing skills and fostering independence, along with cultural experiences and visits to famous Japanese landmarks. From the outset, cultural classes taught by local instructors introduced students to unique aspects of Japanese culture. Activities ranged from serene tea ceremonies to skillful kendama games and elegant calligraphy sessions, each imparting valuable lessons about meticulousness, patience, and tranquility.

The camp’s itinerary included carefully selected cultural and safe experiences. Students visited FPT Japan Holdings, a global workplace two time zones ahead of Vietnam, allowing them to understand FPT’s international presence. Over the following days, the group explored Tokyo’s iconic sites, from sacred shrines like Meiji Jingu and Sensoji to majestic views from Tokyo Tower and Yokohama Port. They also experienced the vibrant Akihabara district and Chinatown, gaining new perspectives on Japanese culture.

Skill Development and Lifelong Lessons

Beyond cultural immersion and sightseeing, students honed essential life skills. They practiced communication, presentation, teamwork, and self-reliance. A highlight of the camp was the disaster preparedness training at the Ikebukuro Life Safety Learning Center, where they experienced simulated earthquakes and fires, learning how to protect themselves and assist others during emergencies.

Memorable Moments for Parents and Children

Ms. Hien, Phuong Trinh’s mother, expressed her complete trust in FPT Japan Academy’s summer camp. She praised the organization and process, noting the strong assurance provided by FPT. Ms. Hien observed significant growth in her child, who thoroughly enjoyed the seven-day camp, especially making new friends, working in teams, and embracing Japanese cultural practices.

Japanese cuisine was a hit among the children. Dinh Tiep particularly enjoyed miso soup, a common dish in Japan, while Tuan Nam favored onigiri (rice balls), appreciating their simplicity and convenience as a breakfast staple. Both students also loved the tea ceremony class taught by Mr. Kuroda Hideo, the principal of FPT Japan Academy, which they found particularly impressive for its deep cultural significance.

A notable aspect of this camp was the emphasis on physical activity and reduced screen time. Students learned to slow down, savoring each moment of their journey. Evening gatherings for sharing stories and feelings after a day of exploration fostered unforgettable memories and strengthened friendships.

The FSOFT Small Junior High School Summer Camp has undoubtedly provided a fulfilling and enriching experience for both students and parents, marking a successful start to FPT Japan Academy’s 2024 summer programs.
