Problem of gathering data sources helps FHM find winner for Hackathon 2022

After a month and a half, surpassing 16 teams, the NYC team from FHM.AVI officially became the champion of FHM HACKATHON 2022 contest after solving the problem of gathering data sources. Besides, the BEST IDEA award went to the LOKI team (FHM.AKAT).

FHM HACKATHON 2022 is the first academic competition ever organized at the unit. The competition requires participating teams to come up with ideas and ways to solve practical problems in working on Data and Cloud Services platforms. The posed challenge was to deal with the problem of synthesizing fragmented data sources, building a data system based on Cloud Services, and serving the purpose of analysis and ML/AI models.

The NYC team came up with a solution to create a data platform where data from all sources can be centralized in a Cloud Service (AWS), on which the platform will allow Data Analysts (DA) to quickly query data, find information such as schema, preview data, and support for some initial data analysis. The platform is also integrated with Data studio to display dashboards and Google collab as a tool to collaborate (DA team can work on Google collab notebook and then publish to everyone via a web portal).

Adopting this solution will help users solve the problem of gathering scattered data and provide collaborative tools. For the developer team, it will quickly catch the issues and the corresponding logs and resolve those issues.

In this season’s best idea contest, LOKI from FHM.AKAT overcame two heavyweights when coming up with the idea of building a Machine Learning model to evaluate and classify comments/reviews/ employee feedback about the company based on sample data from Glassdoor & Indeed. Once perfected, the model can help companies understand their strengths and weaknesses from the employee’s perspective, thereby implementing the necessary strategies to improve the working environment and retain talents.
