CEP and the journey of “digging knowledge wells” on Base Square

“Sharing is not a project – it’s a journey.” With that belief, CEP – the Oil & Gas domain unit at FSOFT – has quietly been transforming hands-on experience into valuable learning resources for the community through the internal knowledge platform, Base Square.

From practical experience to shared knowledge

Founded in 2019, CEP has built deep expertise in the energy sector – particularly in the demanding and complex field of Oil & Gas. Over more than a decade of collaboration with major clients like Halliburton, Petronas, and Shell, the CEP team has done more than just deliver projects – they’ve immersed themselves in the industry, gaining end-to-end insights from upstream to downstream. For them, knowledge isn’t something to keep to themselves – it must be shared selectively, systematically, and with depth.

At first, sharing wasn’t easy. Questions arose: “Does writing take too much time?”, “Will anyone even read it?” But in the end, they chose to believe in the true value – lessons learned from projects, moments when things went wrong, or even a sudden question from a colleague – as long as the content is useful, easy to understand, and applicable.

Spreading value, transforming work culture

From there, CEP’s first articles began appearing in the “Domain” section of Base Square – a space where knowledge is categorized by expertise. No longer buried in emails or tangled in abstract terms, each piece follows a simple rule: share what’s real – what’s needed – and what’s usable.

Unlike traditional storage platforms like Confluence or SharePoint, Base Square enables two-way interaction. Every article can be commented on, challenged, and expanded – becoming a true “refueling station for the mind” for anyone seeking to deepen their domain knowledge.

For CEP, the value doesn’t lie in view counts, but in cultural transformation: writers learn to systematize their thinking; readers gain a clearer understanding of the industry; newcomers only need “a single link” to get started. As CEP puts it: “We write to learn more deeply, and to find greater meaning in our work”.

Today, CEP continues to share regularly and encourages anyone on the team with an idea to write – no need for flowery words, no need to be an expert, just be real. Because for them, sharing knowledge is just like drilling for oil – the deeper you dig, the more value you find.
