Programming in the Age of AI – What will humans do when AI can also code?

With the ability to generate content, images and now even code – AI is fundamentally transforming the way humans build and develop software. At FSOFT, AI plays a pivotal role as a true technological partner, enabling software engineers to maximize their productivity. In an era where machines are capable of programming, is it still necessary for children to learn how to code? This question will be explored in the upcoming webinar “Programming & Learning to Code in the Age of AI”, hosted by FCT Club at 8:00 PM on June 6, featuring CAIO Nguyen Xuan Phong and leading IT experts.

Even within FSOFT, engineers are not standing apart from this wave. Tools such as CodeVista and TestVista are being actively researched, developed, and integrated into workflows to accelerate software production, reduce repetitive tasks for developers, and harness AI as a new technological resource.

But AI’s role is no longer just auxiliary – many are beginning to ask: “If AI can code faster and more accurately, what then is the future role of programmers?”

The answer likely lies not in how well one can code, but in how one thinks about coding.

“AI can write code, but it cannot replace those who think like programmers”, affirmed FSOFT CAIO Nguyen Xuan Phong.

In a world where AI efficiently handles technical operations, the modern programmer must think like a solutions architect – someone who defines problems and designs system directions, rather than merely executing commands.

This is why programming is increasingly seen as a foundational skill – not just for tech professionals, but for anyone who seeks to understand how technology functions.

With AI-assisted coding becoming a reality, is it still necessary for the younger generation to learn programming early on?

This is a pressing question for many parents – particularly those working in the tech industry.

In truth, learning to code from an early age is not solely to become a programmer, but to develop logical thinking, problem-solving abilities, creativity, and systems thinking – core competencies that will empower children to adapt and thrive in any field in the digital era.

To expand perspectives on the evolving role of programming in the AI age – and to provide guidance for FPT parents exploring their children’s future in tech – FCT Club (FPT Software’s Computer Talents Club) is organizing a special webinar:

Topic: PROGRAMMING & LEARNING TO CODE IN THE AGE OF AI
Time: 8:00 PM | Friday, June 6, 2025
Format: Online via Microsoft Teams

This webinar will help FPT parents find answers to key questions:

  • Is AI transforming or unlocking new opportunities for programming careers?
  • What should be learned – and where should one begin – when learning to code in the AI era?
  • If your child is passionate about technology, how should you support them in this new era where “AI also writes code”?
  • How can FCT Club guide and nurture your child’s journey in tech within this shifting landscape?

Meet the panel of leading industry experts – those who are directly shaping, leading, and inspiring innovation at FPT:

  • Mr. Nguyễn Xuân Phong – CAIO of FPT Software (Ranked among the Top 150 Global AI Leaders)
  • Mr. Phan Phương Đạt – Former deputy CEO of FPT Software | Head of FCT Club
  • Mr. Tô Trọng Hiếu – Training Advisor of FCT Club, Program Lead of “AI 4 Productivity Up” in FSOFT Manufacturing Division
  • Mr. Bùi Trần Tiến – Senior AI Engineer, Mentor at FCT Club
  • Ms. Nguyễn Minh Huệ – Vice Head of SSC, Parent of an FCT Club student
