[FSOFT Parents’ Day 2025] Distance does not divide, but rather extends love

On FSOFT’s global journey, some stories go beyond work, deeply portraying the values of kinship and gratitude. Amid the hustle and bustle of life in the US, Ms. Le Thuy Lan (FAM.ST5) and Mr. Nguyen Minh Quang (FAM.ST9) — a married couple who began their careers at FSU1, FPT Building (17 Duy Tan, Hanoi), always keep the “connection thread” with their family, homeland, and the Vietnamese dream they are continuing together close to their hearts.

Ms. Lan and Mr. Quang started their journey at FPT in 2014–2015, before moving to FPT Americas in 2019 and 2020. They have worked in Seattle (Washington), Atlanta (Georgia), and currently reside in Ontario (Canada). Ms. Lan is currently a Tester for the Aviator project, where she has dedicated herself with passion and commitment for five years. Mr. Quang serves as a Technical Lead in projects under the C99 Program, contributing to affirming the technical capabilities and professionalism of FSOFTers.

“Working in the same environment helps us understand and empathize with each other more easily,” Ms. Lan shares. “Each of us has our own strengths, but we always discuss and learn from each other to grow together.” For them, being colleagues is not only an advantage for work but also a chance to build their careers together and preserve family values, no matter the country they are in.

Despite being far from home, they always carry the pride of being “FSOFters” in their hearts. “Clients trust in the professionalism of FPT people, and international colleagues are impressed to know that we are a Vietnamese company providing jobs for locals,” Mr. Quang says. One image that stays with them is the Cuder statue placed in front of the FPT office in Atlanta — a symbol of intelligence and the aspirations of Vietnamese people to reach further. “That was a moment we felt very proud to contribute our small part to that great journey,” Ms. Lan adds.

When they decided to move to the US for work, both sets of parents were surprised but always gave their wholehearted support. “Our parents told us to just focus on work, as they were healthy and could take care of themselves. Those words moved us deeply. It was our greatest emotional support,” Ms. Lan recalls.

The image of their parents in their memory is simple yet warm. Bun cha, banh chung, pate, bun nem — these dishes bring back memories of their homeland. A skillful grandfather, a caring grandmother, a father who loves singing, and a mother eager to learn all paint a familiar family picture, providing the strength that nurtures them every day.

Even though they are halfway across the world, Ms. Lan and Mr. Quang’s family maintains their bond through video calls, grandparent visits, making banh chung together, attending Year-End Parties with FPT Americas, or celebrating Tet at FPT Canada. “On such occasions, we feel we are not alone in a foreign land because around us is always the big FPT family and the love of our parents,” Ms. Lan says.

Sending a message to their parents in Vietnam, the couple cannot hide their emotions: “Thank you to both sets of parents for always trusting, watching over, and being ready to travel halfway across the world to help your children. It is your discipline, love, and self-sacrifice that are our luggage to stand firm wherever we are.”

For them, the warmth of family is the eternal connection, just like FSOFTers are connecting knowledge, technology, and global culture, while still keeping the “Vietnamese spirit” in their hearts.

To FSOFTers working far from home, Ms. Lan and Mr. Quang send this message: “Wherever you are, always look toward your parents. Family is the support that helps us move forward, so each day, we not only work better but also live more fully, with gratitude and pride in the name FPT.”
