After the storm, all the support from company and community is invaluable
The sudden rise of water left Mr. Pham Hai Son’s family (SAS) in Yen Bai unable to evacuate their belongings in time. Nearly everything was swept away. Although the flood has receded, the mud and damage remain. With the support of FSOFT Union and friends from near and far, Mr. Son’s family is gradually recovering from the storm.
Living in Yen Bai, Mr. Son’s family suffered significant losses of property due to super typhoon Yagi. Daily life has been disrupted by the lack of clean water and electricity. Working far from home, Mr. Son can only help by sending essential goods back to his hometown to help his parents and siblings get through the hardest times.
As one of the first 130 FSOFTers to receive support from the Union, Son plans to use the funds to send more food and essential supplies to his parents and neighbors. Grateful for the timely support, Mr. Pham Hai Son (SAS) emotionally shared: “For those of us living in areas severely affected by flooding, every bit of help from the company and the community is invaluable”.
In Lao Cai, Mr. Vu Manh Truong’s family (FA.VN) also faced devastating consequences after the storm. Floodwaters submerged their house, and all their belongings, including furniture, electronics, and books, were buried in mud. Mr. Truong expressed deep gratitude for the quick response from the Union. With the financial support, he prioritized purchasing food, school supplies for the children, disinfectant to prevent disease, and repairing electronics and the roof.

Meanwhile, Mr. Luu The Duy (FHN.BU9), whose parents live in Quang Ninh – one of the hardest-hit provinces – couldn’t hide his sorrow when speaking about his family and neighbors. “Almost all the infrastructure and equipment are damaged. Electricity and water won’t be restored for another 20 days. The road to recovery after the storm will surely be long and tough”, Mr. Duy said.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Oanh (FHN.BU9) in Hai Duong also faces challenges. Her entire family is still wading through the floodwaters, trying to salvage their fish cages, the family’s main source of income. With the financial aid from the Union, Ms. Oanh’s family plans to “cover the costs of feed and repair the damaged fish cages”.
Earlier, on the morning of September 13, FSOFT Union received reports from 233 FSOFTers about the impact of super typhoon Yagi on themselves and their families. The Trade Union immediately devised a support plan for FSOFTers and their families with three levels of assistance: Level 1: VND 2 million – For families moderately affected; Level 2: VND 5 million – For families heavily affected; Level 3: VND 7 million – For families severely affected.
On the morning of September 16, the Union disbursed the first round of aid to the initial 130 FSOFTers. As of September 17, the Trade Union has received reports from 400 FSOFTers and is continuing to assess and plan further support. All employees are encouraged to provide information about their level of damage so that the Trade Union can assist in rebuilding lives post-storm through THIS FORM.
