AI unlocks comprehensive opportunities for sustainable development

In a recent LinkedIn Live session hosted by FPT Americas (FAM), titled “AI in Sustainability – Enhancing Energy Efficiency for a Greener Enterprise”, Becky Vo (FAM.FAS) and FPT Software’s Chief AI Officer (CAIO) Nguyen Xuan Phong explored the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping a greener, more sustainable future for both businesses and society.

Kicking off the conversation with a personal story, Ms. Becky Vo recounted a moment during a ride in an Uber, where the driver expressed concern that AI might one day replace his job. She noted that this fear reflects a broader societal anxiety in an age of rapidly advancing technology. However, rather than viewing AI as a threat, she emphasized that it should be seen as an opportunity — a means to enhance the quality of life. In her view, AI is not here to replace humans, but to serve them. What matters most is not what AI can do, but how it can elevate and improve all aspects of everyday life.

From a strategic perspective, FSOFT CAIO stressed that AI is more than just a tool for work — it can be a trusted companion on the journey toward better living. To fully harness the value of AI, individuals must be willing to learn, adapt to new technologies, and embrace an era shaped by data, algorithms, and intelligent solutions.

Mr. Phong also highlighted AI’s growing role in environmental protection. With its ability to analyze satellite data, AI can support forest growers in accurately calculating carbon absorption, allowing for more efficient resource management and reduced manual effort.

Beyond agriculture, AI is playing a central role in the development of smart cities and green buildings — self-operating ecosystems where energy is optimized, resources are efficiently allocated, and environmental impact is minimized. FSOFT has already implemented several real-world AI-driven solutions, such as energy consumption optimization, predictive maintenance, and environmental monitoring, contributing to sustainable growth strategies for businesses.

Throughout the discussion, the speakers reinforced a clear message: AI is not a threat — it is an opportunity. When applied responsibly, artificial intelligence has the power to become a key driver of positive, long-term value for businesses, communities, and the planet.
