Aspiration to build specific Job Rank for CM at FSOFT

Project configuration managers (CM) act as a “navigator” that brings the project ship on the right track. They work closely with the PM to ensure a “clean” project environment by limiting information security risks. The desire to build a separate Job Rank for the CM profession at FSOFT is a big goal that Mr. Quach Phuong Long – Program Leader of the CM/CC program, and his associates are determined to accomplish in 2022.

From the end of September 2021, 352 projects at FSOFT have deployed PIM files. At the beginning of the project, after BUL/PM added the CC role on the Jira project, the system automatically started the group chat including 4 “assistants” during the project operation, including CMer, IT , ISM and Mr. Quach Phuong Long. The assistants act as consultants to create a standard PIM file for the project from the beginning to the end. The CM/CC program has supported 940 ticket requests to IT. Of which, 859 requests were resolved satisfactorily, 65 tickets were discussed and 16 other tickets were suspended. In addition, the program also performs CM audits for 10 Cloud and Finance projects. From 440 audited items, the program found 150 nonconforming points (NC/OFI) of the project, which accounted for 34% of all items. In the first quarter of 2022, this rate decreased to only 10%.

Mr. Long conducted an audit with the project under GST Da Nang to improve the quality of project configuration management.

In 2022, the CM/CC program aims to build and develop a practical CM operation control process for all projects in FSOFT to improve the quality of configuration management. Currently, the CM/CC core team has been in all three regions. The program supports online projects through channels such as Workchat and MS Teams. In addition, FSOFTers can learn more about CM/CC through the Workplace group called FSOFT CM/CC Community. There, the 423 members are experts who  share their experience in project configuration management and issues that need to be handled at a higher level.

“My obsession is about implementing the best program for projects to have high quality delivery. I say no to security incidents related to configuration management at FSOFT’s large FSU projects, especially those Cloud projects. In the first quarter of 2022, the process of working with GST, FHM, and C99 brought about very good results. We will make every effort to build a separate Job Rank for the CM profession, so that everyone can clearly see the importance of this job and think of it as an option for their career. In particular, the FSOFT CM team will be able to participate in professional training to improve their skills, “said Mr. Long.

  • 04 projects with the best CM report results will receive 5 million VND/project

  • 04 individuals with the most CM activities for the community will receive a reward of 5 million VND/person

  • The 10 best performance reviewers will receive a bonus of 3 million VND/person

  • CMers whose international certificates (Microsoft, AWS, Azure, GCP, Cisco, Oracle, LPI) will receive 200,000 VND/certificate

  • CMers who organize workshops to share their experiences to the community will receive 3 million VND/workshop

In addition to the above awards, when actively participating in building the CM/CC FSOFT community, CMers will be given a T-shirt and a set of card straps bearing the identity of CM Professional.
