Continuing the happy steps at a village school in Yen Bai province
Amid two rows of lush cinnamon trees, with a light fragrance in the air, over 400 students and teachers from Minh Bao Primary and Secondary School joyfully joined the “Happy Giga Run.” This activity was part of the “Connecting Love” program, organized by the FSOFT team on October 26, aimed at supporting schools and residents in the storm-affected area of Yen Bai to rebuild their lives after the recent floods and storms.
Due to the rising water levels of the Red River, many wards, communes, and schools in Yen Bai city (Yen Bai province) were deeply submerged, with some places flooded up to 4 meters.
Minh Bao Primary and Secondary School, Minh Bao commune, had its fence collapsed, its kitchen damaged, and many other facilities ruined. Currently, the school is still in the process of repair and restoration. Notably, more than 25% of the students’ families were directly affected by Typhoon Yagi, with 10 students losing their homes due to floods and landslides. Au Lau Secondary School also suffered severe damage from this storm.
Upon receiving information from FSOFTer Le Trung Kien (FI.REC), a native of Yen Bai, the FSOFT Union brought many equipment, school supplies, and clothes donated by FSOFT employees, along with 50 computers and many gifts of cakes, milk, and candies, to support the school in restoring teaching and learning activities. Ms. Phan Thi Thuc Anh, Principal of Minh Bao School, happily received these meaningful gifts.
“The computers will open up a new world of knowledge, connecting with the outside world, thereby helping the children gain more confidence on their journey to conquer knowledge”, Ms. Thuc Anh shared.

The highlight of the program was the “Happy Giga Run” activity with the theme “Happy Steps”. For the first time, teachers and students wore green shirts, held hands, and ran on the familiar road leading to the school every day. Each step not only brought joy but also symbolized hope for a brighter future.
Tran Thi An, a 9A grade student at Minh Bao Primary and Secondary School, shared that this was the first time she ran with friends, teachers, and even primary school students and FPT orange-shirted members. “Happy Giga Run will be a memory I will never forget before leaving the school”, An confided.
On the “Connecting Love” journey, the FSOFT team also visited, encouraged, and gave gifts to 6 families heavily affected by Typhoon Yagi in Minh Bao and Au Lau communes, Yen Bai province. Among them was the family of Le Trung Kien (FI.REC), a native of Yen Bai, currently living and working at FSOFT Da Nang.
