Dev-Test couple and new onsite life in America

Perhaps nothing is more interesting when the life partner is a colleague and companion on one’s every path. It is such a lucky coincidence that fate can bring us. The story of the couple of Nguyen Dinh Canh and Trinh Thi Hang from FHN.BU91 is a typical example of that. The guy is a developer while the girl is a tester, and together, they flew to the US to start their Go-Global mission.

Going onsite for an aviation project with client B., Canh and Hang had many doubts about life in a foreign country along with the challenges at work. Still, they decided to give it a try to have more new experiences in both work and life. The important thing is that because they have each other to share joys and sorrows, difficulties and challenges are no longer a concern of theirs.

I still code and my wife still do the testing. The other part of the job is to work with the client for reports, offshore plans, meeting schedule, collect requirements, estimate for upcoming work. I’m almost like as a bridge between the offshore team and the client. It’s both familiar and new, and also more stimulating,” Mr. Canh said about his onsite work.

Like anyone when they first go onsite, there are always problems at first such as communication difficulties and cultural differences. The couple recounted that “At first, neither of us really understood what the client said. Along with that was the feeling of being a bit… scared because we had to work directly with the client. But gradually, everything becomes familiar and the client is also very friendly so all barriers gradually disappeared.” In addition, when they just arrived, both were newly infected with Covid-19 so their health had not fully recovered. They still coughed a lot and were tired. But no matter what, as long as they have each other, they can overcome anything.

The pressure on Canh and Hang has decreased and now they can enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery of Seattle – the state where they live in. Convenient transportation and fully equipped accommodation make the two young people more comfortable and begin to love their new life. “It’s just been a while, so I don’t have a long-term plan. It’s all just trying and experiencing. But the beautiful scenery, fresh air, good people and environment … are making us very happy. Who knows if we are going to stick here for a long time”, Hang shared.

And in order to work towards long-term plans, in the immediate future, both of them are still making efforts every day to work while learning and exploring new things. To prove their own abilities and FSOFT’s capability to the client, every day the two young people are trying to do the best at their current jobs.
