Female BrSE shares valuable lessons after earning 4 ‘elite’ certificates in 11 months

Without attending in any courses at training centers, Ms. Nguyen Thu Hien (FSG.JOC) still excellently earned 4 ‘elite’ certificates after only 11 months of self-study. Ms. Hien said that, the closer to the exam date, the more us ‘soldiers’ need to speed upso not miss out on any new knowledge.

Having been with FJP for 5 years, Ms. Thu Hien (FSG.JOC) is currently working at FSG as a BrSE for a large insurance client in Japan. Setting the initial goal of completing the PMP certificate, then the more she studied, the more she excelled and eventually earned 4 ‘elite’ certificates: PMP Professional Project Management Certificate (2020/8), PMI-PBA Certificate only Professional Business Analyst (2021/1), PMI-RMP Certificate of Professional Risk Management (2021/5), PMI-SP Certificate of Professional Plan Management (2021/7).

Understanding that all 4 certificates are very helpful for her current job, Hien was so eager to learn. Her colleagues often teased her saying that “Her addiction to certificates is like addiction to brand names, which can’t be stopped”. Motivated to earn a certificate to understand the nature of and be more confident in her work, Hien was also “inspired” by her own daughter: “At that time, my daughter also started studying for the final exam, so I wanted to be an example for my daughter. We, mother and daughter, together set goals and studied together every day.”

According to Ms. Hien, self-study is possible and extremely effective if you are determined. During the preparation process, she absolutely did not need the help of any training center. She just registered as a member of PMI to get documents and buy Udemy’s online course to be eligible to register for the exam. each certificate she studied PMP and PMI-PBA each for only 3 months. The review time for 2 certificates was shortened even more when she got used to the learning method. She only had to spend 2 months for PMI-RMP and 1 month for PMI-SP.

However, no success is easily achieved. Hien’s study process also encountered many difficulties and challenges, of which the biggest difficulty was time. “At the same time, I have to balance my time for projects, internal training, taking care of small children… Many times I wanted to give up but thinking about the benefits that these certifications bring to work, I told myself to try a little harder,” Hien shared.

Ms. Hien is also proud to share that thanks to the knowledge accumulated in the process of reviewing these certificates, she and her teammates in the “Tempest” team have excellently passed the PM Contest qualifying round at FJP with the highest points out of 25 teams.

PMP, PMI-PBA, PMI-RMP and PMI-SP are prestigious and widely recognized advanced certifications in the field of Project Management. Especially for BrSE who need skills in communication, plan management, risk management, and project requirements exploitation, etc., achieving these standardized certifications is extremely necessary to be able to understand the nature of their work, increase self-confidence, and improve the quality of work.
