Foreign FSOFT excitedly welcome Vietnamese New Year
Visiting the grave on the last day of the year with the family of a Vietnamese wife, gathering around a tray of rice on New Year’s Eve, going to pagodas, traveling through many provinces, etc. or going to the fields to plant are outstanding activities that many foreign FSOFT experienced during the past 9 days of Lunar New Year holiday.
This is the second year that Jamilu Usman (FHN.TCS) celebrates Tet in Vietnam. Instead of staying in Hanoi to celebrate Tet, the Nigerian chose to travel with his friends and experience the unique and traditional activities of the Vietnamese people. For Usman, receiving New Year’s Eve fireworks, meeting relatives and friends on New Year’s Eve and traveling to many lands such as Ba Vi, Bat Trang and Soc Son are the most exciting activities on Tet this year. “I wish everyone a wonderful new year, filled with endless happiness and joy,” Usman said.

Unlike Usman, this year’s Lunar New Year is the 5th New Year Roc Nail (GST.PRO) celebrates Tet in Vietnam. On this Tet holiday, the American man went to the graves at the end of the year, visited relatives of his wife’s family, played video games with his brother-in-law, went to pagodas, etc. What impressed Roc Nail with Vietnamese New Year was the gathering of all family members from all over the world, traditional dishes, it is customary to celebrate the new year with bright red envelopes. Roc Nail hopes that in the following Tet holidays, he will be able to experience Vietnamese Tet with his wife in many other cities to better understand the customs and habits of the Vietnamese people.
“Wishing all FSOFTers a successful and lucky year. Let the ‘Tiger’ spirit push us towards our goals. And hopefully, I can see smiles instead of masks,” Roc Nail shared. Here are some pictures of Roc Nail’s Vietnamese New Year celebration:

Meanwhile, Pronoy Bakshi (GST.PTG) first celebrated Tet at a friend’s family in Thai Binh. This is a whole new experience with Bakshi. “Wishing you and your family a happy and prosperous new year. Hope this year everyone will develop together on the career path,” Bakshi expressed.
For many foreigners in Vietnam in general and foreign FSOFTer in particular, Tet is the time they spend to learn about the culture and traditions of the country where they are living and working. Their meaningful deeds and contributions to the community have and will contribute to helping Vietnam rise strongly in the New Year of the Tiger.
