IVS is only unit to achieve productivity growth of over 10% in first 5 months of 2022

To reach the World-Class goal by 2023, all departments and units across FSOFT have been embracing the “Productivity” as the principle when it comes to operation. In the productivity growth results report forthe first 5 months of the year, IVS is the most prominent and only unit that achieved 13.3% productivity growth considering the unit’s 2 separate delivery aspects.

Not outside the general trend, productivity growth has been a “hot” keyword at IVS in recent years. And for the unit’s productivity growth to reach 13.3%, IVS Director Nguyen Dinh Vinh An said that productivity needs to be improved in all aspects, but mainly in two aspects: The first is to do current job with better productivity (Do Better) and the second is to bring more value (More Added Value).

Regarding “Do Better”, IVS will focus on the following activities:

  • Focus on training for employees: From the time employees prepare to enter the project, they will be fully trained from the content of the project to the skills to use tools. Employees will also be introduced to resources that can be reused at the project and there will also be regular training sessions on knowledge areas besides testing techniques such as Soft Skills and Domain Knowledge (such as Banking, Automotive, etc.)
  • Split work and emphasize specialization: Units should proactively divide work into small stages and increase specialization on each stage. As a result, productivity will increase quickly and stably. Periodically, rotation will be carried out so that employees can have the opportunity to experience different works and maintain their motivation..
  • Foster exchange: PMs in the same project line will regularly share experiences and ways to improve project productivity.
  • Carry out competition: Regularly organize competition to increase productivity among units and members to ensure productivity improvement and good performances will be rewarded accordingly. In addition, the poject surplus program will also be implemented broadly to help PMs maintain maximum focus on improving productivity..
  • Maintain a product development for toolization: This allows the project to be supported as soon as it is needed, especially for high volume and error prone jobs, such as bulk data inspection and job performance measurement tools.
  • Provide delivery tools: Laptops or other devices are fully provided to the right people to fit the working model during and after Covid-19.

Regarding “More Added Value”, IVS will carry out:

  • Full-stack Quality Engineer: IVS will implement the Full-stack Quality Engineer program with a focus on building human resources and tools to be able to participate in a project quality assurance cycle according to the Agile Scrum model. Full-stack QEs should have the skills to handle a variety of tasks ranging from requirements verification, testing, automation testing, performance testing and even security testing. As a result, the project does not need to use as many personnel for each specific stage as before and that can contribute to improved productivity..
  • Maintain the momentum: IVS will keep embracing the mindset of desiring to work and do more so it can continue to deliver good proposal and get more jobs on areas that they have been doing. Also, with that approach, the unit can take advantage of the background knowledge to achieve optimal productivity.
  • As of now, IVS has also successfully migrated 30% of the workload to Automation Test.

With the above methods, the breakthrough in productivity has helped IVS’ projects always deliver products with the highest quality and gain high satisfaction from clients. “Along with this, the income of IVS members has also improved significantly. More and more testers have achieved their desirable income. In the near future at IVS, there will be billionaire testers, I believe,” IVS Director wittily shared.

The key to the success of the entire IVS’s productivity campaign is the culture. The working culture at IVS promotes the two words namely “Dedication and Kindness”. Mr. An affirmed, “When completing the assigned work with the best quality, naturally there will arise the need to do it even faster with fewer errors will. In addition, the spirit of sharing and guiding each other is also quite intrinsic and it can help knowledge to spread quickly.”

In 2022, IVS aims to reach 15% productivity growth. In S2, IVS will continue to invest about 100 MM more in R&D activities and develop new tools and services to further expand and improve the testing profession. Together, IVS will make every effort to pave the wave for Automation Test to be applied through the SKU Jam program and the unit will also promote akaAT implementation right at FSOFT.
