Livestream Globizen Talk #1: Prepare now for opportunity to go onsite in US

The Globizen Talk #1 Livestream: “America within reach” took place yesterday and attracted many FSOFTers with lively discussions about onsite life in the US, as well as the necessary baggage on the way to realize the dream of immigrating to America.

The two guests of the livestream were Mr. Trinh Hoang Ha – Account & Delivery Manager, and Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long – Software Engineer & Account Manager. They are onsiters who have lived and worked in the US for many years. The two brothers opened the program by sharing their attached working relationship with FPT Americas.

An important preparation step that many livestream viewers were interested in was the interview round with clients – the decisive factor for onsite opportunities. Mr. Ha believes that it is necessary to prepare seriously, learn carefully about the nature of the project and the type of technology to understand client’s information to meet their expectations. “It is also extremely necessary to share the experience of the projects you’ve worked on, focusing on the skills the clients are looking for to prove your ability and suitability for the position,” said Mr. Hoang Ha.

In addition, according to Mr. Ha, the most difficult step before going onsite is getting the family’s consent. “Since this is a big decision, it needs to be shared with your parents, wife and children early on because they will be your companions and supporters in the upcoming journey. Try to put yourself in the position of a loved one to prepare for a new life while still in Vietnam. And anxiety is inevitable”, Mr. Ha said.

In order to integrate into life and work early, it is necessary to prepare early from the time you are still in Vietnam. Choosing which city to live in, which school to send your children to, and notarizing English-translated documents… All need to be prepared before you take the fly. A good preparation process will save time and effort. It also helps you avoid the situation that Mr. Ha had experience, which was spending about 6 weeks at a hotel to look for a home and school for his children when he first came to the US.

In this regard, Mr. Long also shared the secret to finding a house near the US office and contacting the community of longtime onsiters to get more useful information to make the onsite journey smoother.

Free public school tuition, high-quality education for your children, fresh air, healthy lifestyle, easy travel… are great plus points if you are lucky enough to get the opportunity to go onsite in America.

“For you who plan to prepare for onsite, prepare everything now. You can improve your skills, technology and English, and share your plan with your family so that when the opportunity comes, they can help you seize it. I believe that at FSOFT, there will be a strong Globizen community that is ready to support each other to reach out to the world”, Mr. Ha said.

Mr. Long said: “Onsiting in the USA is a great opportunity that once you get it, you will feel much more confident as you are becoming a global citizen who can can travel around the world. Just work hard, surprises will come.”
