The 15-day sprint to the FPT AI Open Hackathon 2025 Finals by the AI1 & CEP alliance

Successfully passing the rigorous evaluation round by the expert panel, FSO.AI1&CEP officially emerged as one of two FSOFT teams advancing to the finals of the FPT AI Open Hackathon 2025. With their project “AutoML-X for Oil & Gas”, the team promises to deliver a highly practical AI solution, addressing the complex and industry-specific challenges of the oil and gas sector.

FSO.AI1&CEP brings together five talented members from the AI1 and CEP units: Le Ngoc Minh (AI1) – Data Scientist, Team Lead; Tran Trung Kien (CEP) – AI Engineer, LLM Expert; Nguyen Tuan Anh (CEP) – Full-stack Engineer; Ta Vinh Hanh (AI1) – DevOps and Pham Huu Viet (AI1) – Front-end Engineer.

Formed just 15 days before the Hackathon kicked off, the FSO.AI1&CEP team swiftly implemented an agile workflow, with clearly defined roles and responsibilities to maximize operational efficiency. Despite the time constraints and the novelty of the technical challenges, the team proactively leveraged a variety of learning resources and tools such as v0.dev, significantly accelerating the solution development process.

In this Hackathon, team FSO.AI1&CEP chose to tackle AI application in the Oil & Gas industry – a specialized field with high investment costs, significant risks, complex processes, and massive data volumes. The team’s AutoML-X solution is deployed to minimize these barriers by automating important components in the machine learning pipeline, thereby accelerating AI application development from quarters or years to weeks and months.

The AutoML-X system is designed to optimize key industry tasks such as material selection, structural configuration, drilling process optimization, and production operations. The solution’s highlight is the application of cutting-edge Multi-Agentic AI technology, helping to process large computational requirements while demonstrating the capabilities of FPT Cloud and NVIDIA technology.

Team FSO.AI1&CEP also applied creative ideas in finding solutions for data science problems by combining search trees with knowledge repositories from Kaggle, aiming to enhance the reasoning capabilities of LLM models. To ensure scalability, the team researched and applied parallelization solutions to optimize hardware performance, combined with modern LLMs and integrated cloud computing platforms, helping find optimal solutions quickly and efficiently.

“FPT AI Open Hackathon is not just a competition; it’s an opportunity for growth”, said Lê Ngọc Minh, Team Lead of FSO.AI1&CEP, “It’s also a precious opportunity for our team to connect with top AI talents and experts from major tech corporations and promising startups around the world”.

Through advanced AI solutions like AutoML-X, FPT aims to open a new future for the Oil & Gas industry and accompany enterprises in their journey to adapt to the rapid changes in the global economy. The FPT AI Open Hackathon finale is not only an opportunity for competing teams to demonstrate outstanding potential but also a chance to prove the practicality and breakthrough capabilities of AI applications, thereby affirming FPT’s pioneering role in the AI revolution.

FPT AI Open Hackathon 2025 is a large-scale technology competition jointly organized by FPT Smart Cloud and NVIDIA, with the goal of promoting real-world AI applications in enterprise environments. The competition is held in a hybrid format, combining on-site activities in Hanoi with intensive training programs delivered by an international advisory board that supports teams throughout their solution development journey.

Participating teams also gain direct access to a robust technical infrastructure, including the FPT AI Factory, FPT Cloud, and NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs – core technology platforms that significantly accelerate the process of building, testing, and optimizing enterprise-scale AI models.
