Young personnel help business open up new directions
10 days after the open for entry, FPT 13 Under 35 program has received more than 267 applications, of which FSOFT took the lead with 100 applications. According to FSOFT Chairwoman Chu Thi Thanh Ha, at the software house, young employees under the age of 35 account for 86% of the personnel. They are the main force that helps the company explore many new lands, and are also given many conditions and opportunities for development.
During the process of working and managing at FSOFT, FSOFT Chairwoman Chu Thi Thanh Ha has always been dedicated to encouraging and fostering young employees. Recently, she shared about the journey of taking people as the root and emphasizing the importance of young personnel in the company.
– Can you tell me the average age of FSOFT staff? What do you think about the current young workforce of FSOFT?
– At FSOFT, young personnel are the main force. By the end of May 2022, FSOFT has a total of more than 25,000 employees. In which, 86% of employees are under the age of 35 and 67% of employees are under the age of 30. The strengths of young personnel is that they are rich in energy, enthusiasm, eager to learn, creative, innovative and willing to experience new fields at work. With the nature of FSOFT’s work in the technology industry and the global scale of FSOFT, this human resource has been helping our business open up new directions.
– How is this young workforce contributing to the company?
– Currently, in the team of “officers” (intermediate and senior managers) of FSOFT, 36% of managers are under the age of 35. In addition, 33 employees under 35 are currently holding senior management positions such as Directors of key business – delivery units and Heads/Deputies of Departments.
FSOFT’s characteristic is to do technology projects with clients around the world that are diverse in size and scale. According to the data, there are currently more than 7,500 employees under 35 years old working for key projects with key clients that are big well-known businesses in the global market.
– You once said that, “I do not mind doing anything for young people”. So, what policies and activities does FSOFT currently have to develop their capacity and enhance their working spirit?
– The motto of FSOFT is to create the most favorable environment for employees, especially young people. From there, employees are excited to make the best use of their capacity and creativity at work. Currently, the company is implementing many programs and policies to support employees.
A typical example is the “Settling down for long-term career” policy. The policy helps employees to soon settle down so that they can work with peace of mind as there are many incentives for them when buying a house or a car.
Thanks to young people’s eagerness to learn, FSOFT also invests hundreds of billions of dong in learning programs that are linked with training platforms like Udacity/Udemy, and has policies to support learning and taking of certification exams. From there, employees can improve their knowledge, professional skills, foreign languages, among other things, to develop themselves, receive new opportunities in terms of work, and further their career such that overseas in 26 countries where FSOFT has a representative office or a branch.
With its current scale, FSOFT has enough jobs, positions, and ranks to rotate employees so that they can have the opportunity to do their favorite work, accept new challenges, and find their own passion.

We continuously organize programs to improve development and emulation among employees. Typically, “AM Fast Track” and “DM Fast Track” are organized with the mission of selecting and fostering potential candidates for the next Account Managers (AM) and Delivery Managers (DM) of the company. Here, employees are accompanied and trained by the Board of Directors to successfully approach large contracts worth USD 5-10 million.
Regarding the working environment, FSOFT aims create an open, diverse and connected environment with the culture of “being yourself”. The activities have youthful and liberal colors, led by the young people themselves. Senior managers are assigned the task of leading and listening to the opinions/contributions of young employees. Many playgrounds promote exchange, connection and creativity, and even starting a business within the company – things that young employees need to experience in order to develop during their later in their career.
– Before, when she was the Chairwoman of FPT Telecom, you often gave special benefits to individuals who reached the Top 13 of FPT Under 35. So what about that now at FSOFT?
– We focus on the career path of each employee, especially young employees with outstanding achievements. From 2014 to now, nearly 500 employees under 35 years old have been rewarded with noble titles at FPT and FSOFT such as: TOP 100, Miss FSOFT, Manager of the year, Top 13 FPT Under 35, among others. This is a step in the progress that the company helps employees achieve new milestones. At FPT Software, we give opportunities to young people in many fields from operation management to participation in big projects, research, and start-up.
Typically, FSOFT has the first Chief Human Resources Director (CHRO) of the 9X generation who was appointed at the age of 29. Many Directors and Deputy Directors of delivery units are in their 30s and have to manage several thousand employees. To name a few, they are Tran Van Dung – Director of FHM, Nguyen Khac Hiep – Director of GST, Nguyen Dinh Vinh An – Director of IVS, Cao Van Viet – Director of FNE, and Nguyen Hoang Linh – Sales Director of FPT Japan.
According to the evaluation of the Organizing Committee of FPT Under 35, the number of nominations for season 7 (in 2022) is 20 more than that of season 6. The quality of the profiles is also highly appreciated with the information about the achievements and highlights of the candidates being presented fully. In particular, season 7 recorded the strong appearance of Gen Z with the youngest candidate born in 2001 in the Technology category.
