FAM ST5 showcases recycled fashion, promoting environmental protection
At the Seattle regional Sum-up event, a special fashion performance captivated the entire audience. More than just a show, it was a fusion of creativity, teamwork, and a strong message of environmental protection conveyed through recycled fashion.
The idea for this performance emerged from a discussion within the YU team when a member suggested a recycled fashion show, inspired by their daughter’s school performance. To enhance creativity, the team chose themes related to FAM ST5’s clients. Additionally, innovative themes such as AI, Latin American culture, the Au Lac warriors, and farmers were incorporated, adding depth and inspiration to the performance.

Bringing the idea to life came with many challenges, from recruiting participants, designing and organizing, to balancing the number of outfits and the duration of the show. To ensure each design accurately reflected the essence of each client, the team assigned project members to create the costumes themselves. As a result, unique outfits came to life, showcasing Boeing’s signature airplane, Costco’s iconic shopping cart, Sysmex’s medical equipment, and Spectrum’s smart locks—allowing the audience to easily recognize and connect with these well-known brands.
To enhance diversity and engagement, the team decided to include child models in the performance. Initially, guiding the young participants posed some challenges, but the children displayed remarkable confidence and creativity. The result was an energetic and dynamic show that completely erased any initial concerns.
Crafting outfits from recycled materials such as cardboard, tape, and aluminum cans required meticulous effort and patience. Despite their busy schedules, the team managed to allocate time during breaks and weekends to complete the designs. Ensuring safety was a top priority, with each costume carefully measured, reinforced, and smoothed to eliminate sharp edges, allowing the children to perform comfortably and confidently.
This initiative not only delivered a unique performance but also spread values of creativity, teamwork, and environmental awareness. It left a lasting impression on FAM ST5 and is sure to inspire more groundbreaking ideas for future engagement events.
