Carlos Eduardo Gutierrez (FAM.ST11): When AI becomes a Productivity Lever

On the journey to realizing the goal of becoming an AI-First Company, employees at FPT Americas (FAM) constantly harness the power of artificial intelligence to boost their productivity and work efficiency. From Costa Rica, Carlos Eduardo Gutierrez – Senior Project Manager at FAM.ST11 – believes that AI is not merely a tool, but has become a ‘pillar of performance’ that helps him optimize workflows and enhance results.

In his role leading the compliance program for the European Union AI Act, Carlos must analyze dense and complex legal documents. Instead of spending hours researching, he leverages large language models (LLMs) to break down legal provisions into key obligations, draft user stories, and transform ambiguous requirements into concrete tasks. As a result, processes—from charter creation, approval requests, scheduling evaluations to delivering roadmaps—are significantly shortened, with improved accuracy and transparency.

At the same time, Carlos found ways for AI to “work on his behalf” within the project management tool Jira. By having AI review backlogs, identify recurring patterns and bottlenecks, he developed a set of automation rules and standardized templates. Tickets move from “new” to “done” with minimal manual intervention, eliminating a large volume of repetitive tasks and allowing the team to focus on truly important issues.

Beyond work, Carlos also employs AI as a “turbo engine” in everyday life. A brief prompt helps him quickly draft outlines or edit text; a few lines of script assist in indexing all his notes, reducing information retrieval to just seconds. He even created Zapier automation flows that connect Slack, Google Calendar, and email, ensuring his schedules, reminders, and updates are fully synchronized without a single extra click.

For Carlos, AI is no longer a distant concept but a powerful lever that frees people from tedious tasks to focus on innovation and creativity. With a pioneering spirit and a passion for exploration, he has transformed technology into a tangible force, delivering real value to his work and life.
