EVM cover the whole FSOFT
On the morning of 10 August 10, 2022, the EVM Gomass program was officially kicked-off with the participation of FSOFT CDO – Mr. Vu Tien Dat and FSU Head, SEPG, FQC and project PM participating in EVM implementation during the Pre-Gomass period from this August.
Statistically, FSOFT projects often have problems near the end of the project, when all efforts are used up, only to discover that the actual amount of work that needs to be completed in only 40-50%. At that time, the projects asked for more BMMs and extended to complete. This leads to a lot of additional costs to cover, in addition, the amount of additional expenses required to spend on the completion of the project is also challenging to determine.
“Project management by EVM method has been implemented in many fields and proven effective. We definitely need to apply this method to the project, there will be no more management based on the head count, and at the same time help the project no longer have surprises about the progress or cost of the project,” Mr. Vu. Tien Dat shared at the kick-off session.
Accordingly, the Decision on implementing the EVM management method has been issued and takes effect from July 25, 2022, projects that satisfy the following 3 criteria will be within the scope of EVM application:
- The project has a contract of Fixed Price
- Project scale with contract value from 200K USD or more
- Project Duration from 3 months or more
The implementation of EVM Gomass is divided into 3 phases:
- Initiate – First week of August: Prepare resources, processes and training for units
- Pre Gomass – During August and 9: By the end of September, apply EVM for pilot projects
- Gomass: Deploying mass to the entire project within the scope of application at FSOFT
Program participants all have specific tasks and are committed to joining hands to effectively implement EVM in their units. In the Pre-gomass phase, EVM will be piloted in 13 projects representing Delivery units. It is expected that after the Pre Gomass phase, the process will be improved and standardized to facilitate Mass deployment. Mr. Dat also shared: “After EVM is applied proficiently, there will be a tooling plan to be able to report on Jira, link with project P&L reporting tools”.
