Female FSOFTer Donates 10 Days’ Salary: “If You Have the Intention, You Should Act Right Away

Starting with an initial donation of 300,000 VND to the FPT Community Fund, Lê Ngọc Hân (F1.NSM) later emailed the Labor Union to adjust her contribution to the equivalent of 10 days’ salary – even though the program had already ended. Behind that decision lies a quiet 10-year journey, which Ngọc Hân shared with Cucumber.

Joining FSOFT only last December, to be honest, many of the company’s activities and campaigns felt quite unfamiliar to me at first. When the “One Day’s Salary for the Community” campaign was launched, I contributed a small amount of 300,000 VND as a gesture of support. At that time, my team was facing tight deadlines, so I didn’t have much time to learn more about the program. Still, I believed that even a small contribution could reach someone in need. Especially when I saw that FPT organized such meaningful initiatives like building bridges or donating computers to students in remote areas…

Everything changed after I took a 5-day leave to join a charity program in Quang Nam – a place I had been connected to for over 10 years as an interpreter for a Korean doctors’ NGO. This year was a special milestone, marking the conclusion of the project after more than a decade. We had performed acupuncture for the elderly, provided dental care for children, and listened to many heartfelt life stories from people in poor rural areas.

It was then that I realized: no action for the community is ever too small if done with a full heart. I also felt deeply grateful to FSOFT. Not every company would readily allow an employee to take multiple days off for volunteer work. And even fewer companies manage to cultivate a culture that encourages living kindly and serving others. FSOFT enabled me to continue the project I had pursued for a decade, and now, I wanted to contribute a small part to help the company keep spreading that kindness.

That’s why I decided… to donate again – this time, with 10 days’ salary. Not for the number itself, but out of gratitude. I sent an email to the Labor Union, even though I knew the campaign had officially ended. But I thought, if you have the intention, you should act immediately. Luckily, it was still in time.

I believe that if each person contributes a little according to their means, together we can create great things for the community. Some values may not show immediate results but require patience and perseverance over time. That’s why ongoing support and care from individuals – no matter how small it may seem – can sometimes be a life-changing help for someone out there.
