Nguyen Thuong Quan and the golden steps on the journey to conquer global projects
Four years ago, when he began his journey at FSOFT as an Automation Test Engineer at FHM, Nguyen Thuong Quan (FAM.ST9) never imagined that one day he would participate in key projects for global clients. It was his desire to step out of his comfort zone that drove him to embrace new challenges and open up a journey of growth and self-improvement day by day.
Joining FSOFT in October 2021, the young engineer started in a small scrum team of just seven people. Two years later, he was trusted with the responsibility of QA Test Lead for a Release Train consisting of seven teams, which is a milestone marking a major turning point in his career.

With a spirit of progress, discipline, and an unceasing ambition to rise, he was then recommended for a long-term assignment at FPT Americas (FAM). “I chose to challenge myself in America because I wanted to learn in a completely new environment. Working directly with clients is both pressure and a great opportunity to grow in my profession,” he shared.
At FAM, Quan took on the role of ensuring quality in the Billing system transformation project for Cox Automotive – one of the most complex and influential projects in the automotive transportation industry in the U.S. The project involved migrating data for more than 25,000 customers from the Legacy Billing system to Salesforce Billing, including dealer, carrier, and broker customer groups.
“The most important thing is that after the migration, all customer functions must operate stably, payments must be secure on the new system, and there must be no erroneous charges from the old system,” Quan shared. “It’s a job that demands absolute accuracy, where each line of data is not just about money, but also the trust of our customers.”
He vividly remembers the first “migration” night on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025. Over 700 initial customers were transitioned to the new system. Immediately after, data started experiencing synchronization errors: sometimes complete, sometimes missing. The whole team had to review each record and test every hypothesis to find the cause.
Around 2 a.m., Quan and his team discovered the problem was in the Salesforce infrastructure configuration; the system was set to low-load mode, causing overload when processing large volumes of data simultaneously. After hours of troubleshooting and adjusting the configuration, all data was successfully synchronized by 4 a.m., just in time for customers to begin their new workday.
A few days later, he received a commendation email from the AVP Product & Engineering of Cox, recognizing his perseverance and sense of responsibility with the team. “That night, I truly understood the value of patience and teamwork—things no tool can ever replace,” he recalled.
When asked about his secret for maintaining a “consistent and committed” performance, he didn’t talk about techniques or processes, but emphasized the human factor. “From management to every engineer, everyone needs to aim for the same goal: delivering the highest quality for the product,” he shared. “Every morning, I always remind myself: if I do well, the whole team will do well. When the project runs smoothly, everyone can end their workday with peace of mind and return to their families. For me, that is the true value of a successful project.”
Not stopping there, Quan is also one of the pioneering engineers applying AI to the testing process. He uses Copilot to build tools that support data verification before and after migration, enabling the detection of errors in hundreds of records within seconds. “AI helps me save a lot of time and ensures data is tightly, quickly, and accurately controlled,” he said. Although the Cox project has not officially adopted TestVista—FPT’s internal tool—he still proactively leverages AI as a “companion,” contributing to boosting work efficiency.
Nguyen Thuong Quan is not only the image of a resilient FPT engineer in global projects, but also a role model of teamwork, responsibility, and professional passion, which are sustainable values that build the FPT brand on the world technology map.
