GST officially launches comprehensive Warehouse Management System for Long Châu

On May 17, 2025, GST officially launched its comprehensive Warehouse Management System (WMS) for FPT Long Châu, marking a significant milestone in the company’s technological infrastructure upgrade. The deployment, following the completion of Phase 2, replaces the outdated legacy system, which had become insufficient to meet the growing transaction volumes and operational demands – particularly during peak periods that previously led to system bottlenecks, processing delays, and data discrepancies.

The WMS 2 platform, developed by GST, leverages cutting-edge technologies, integrating multiple programming languages including Flutter, ReactJS, NodeJS, .NET, and Java. At launch, the system serves over 300 users across two primary warehouses, with objectives centered on stable, accurate operations and the ability to process large-scale data at high efficiency. Post-implementation testing demonstrated that the system can handle up to one million order processing commands daily during peak periods, maintaining seamless performance and eliminating previous issues of command congestion.

Phase 2 of the project addressed approximately 80% of the core functions in warehouse operations. Key features now include MRP-based order picking, internal goods transfers, layout management, precise SKU positioning, and flexible goods receiving through OCR. These enhancements have not only accelerated processing speeds but also significantly improved accuracy, reduced manual errors, and optimized operational resources.

The project faced considerable challenges due to tight deadlines and stringent requirements for near-perfect data stability and accuracy. In the final two months, a dedicated team of more than 30 members worked overtime – up to 22 hours a day, including weekends—to ensure timely completion. According to the project manager, the entire team “pulled an all-nighter for 36 consecutive hours” during the go-live phase, both deploying the system and providing on-site operational support to swiftly address any arising issues.

On its first day of operation, the new system impressed users with its smooth and superior performance. Operations staff reported that the system not only operated faster but also contributed to reducing errors, saving time, and enhancing the overall quality of warehouse management – features the previous platform could not deliver. “We are not just rolling out a new software, but fundamentally rebuilding the operational platform for a large-scale retail system”, PM Mai Thanh Tai said.

The success of WMS 2 is not merely a technical achievement, but also sets the foundation for a long-term strategy. In the upcoming Phase 3, GST aims to fully replace all remaining functionalities of the old system, officially decommission the KT POS system, and migrate all warehouse operations onto a new, smarter, and more scalable platform to support the evolving needs of the nationwide retail chain.
