From Business Analyst to a “Go Global” journey at FPT France: When readiness meets the right opportunity

Every career journey is a story of its own. For Mr. Trần Việt Nhân, from his early days as a Business Analyst in Hanoi to taking on a project management role at FPT France, it has been a journey of gradually pushing boundaries, continuously exploring, and growing alongside FPT Software.

He joined FPT Software in November 2018 as an Intermediate Business Analyst and later became an Account Manager at FPT France. His growth journey is marked by many memorable milestones: he was named in the Top 100 FPT Software 2024, helped grow an account from USD 70K to USD 1 million in his first year of taking it over, and reached USD 2 million the following year.

But when talking about what keeps him committed to the company, he doesn’t mention opportunities alone. For him, what matters is that FPT consistently creates an environment broad enough for each person to be challenged, to prove their capability, and to move forward when they are truly ready. As he puts it: “FPT always creates opportunities, but to make the most of them, I also have to proactively seize them.”

The onsite decision: When opportunity comes from proactiveness

From his early days at FHN.BA to his move to ICS.BA, Mr. Nhân consistently worked to expand his role. The turning point came when the unit began ramping up and needed people who could take on more responsibilities—not only doing pure BA work, but also leading teams, coordinating across multiple parties, and participating in business activities. He took on the role of BA Leader for a 15-person team, simultaneously ran three large projects for client C., and also joined presales, bidding, and other business activities of ICS.DCX at that time. Alongside his main job, he proactively built his own direction: developing Business Analyst as an internal service.

For Mr. Nhân, an onsite opportunity doesn’t necessarily start with submitting an “application.” It can come naturally when proactiveness and capability are recognized. He shared: “When I do my job well, am ready to take on extra tasks, and don’t shy away from challenges, opportunities will gradually open up.”

He was assigned onsite in Singapore for an E-commerce Healthcare project, and later was proposed for a long-term position at FPT France (FFR). The decision took effect in early 2023, and within just one month, all procedures were completed thanks to fast and effective support from the system.

Not luck, but a “logical” operating mechanism

Looking back on his onsite journey, what makes Mr. Nhân trust FPT Software is not only the tangible support such as visas, relocation, or HR procedures. More importantly, it is how the system operates and creates opportunities for those who have proven their capabilities.

He sees individuals here who are proactive, willing to do, willing to try, and willing to accept failure in order to go further. Onsite opportunities don’t necessarily come from asking for them; they can be initiated within the system itself when a person’s capability and readiness are recognized. Programs like X-Jobs also create more room for people to try themselves in a broader scope of work, thereby accumulating more experience and opening up new development possibilities.

“This isn’t personal luck, but a system with logic: those who are ready and can prove their capability will be given opportunities,” he shared.

Go Global: When opportunity is a two-way story

After moving to France, Mr. Nhân’s challenges were no longer limited to pure BA expertise. The new environment required him to expand into a range of business and commercial skills such as bidding, sales pitching, and stakeholder management on both the customer side and the internal offshore team. Instead of waiting for formal training in each skill, he chose to learn directly through the work and leverage every tool that could help him work more effectively. Among those, AI became an important companion.

Another key factor in his adaptation process is that he doesn’t limit himself to a fixed domain. Being willing to step outside his familiar expertise helped him broaden his perspective, understand the market better, and respond faster to new customer requirements.

Working in France has given Mr. Nhân a very different lens on the market, customers, and how to build business relationships. Here, the sales cycle is quite long and requires patience. Building customer trust cannot happen in just a few meetings; it needs to be nurtured over time. The work culture also emphasizes sustainability, thoroughness, and long-term relationships. From his experience, he summarizes the French market as: “Hard to get into, but once you’re in, it’s very sustainable.”

Not only at work, life in France has also been an experience that helped him mature. He maintains a proactive mindset of exploration—from traveling and cultural experiences to connecting with international friends and learning more deeply about customers and the market. For him, experiences outside work also help make customer conversations more natural, deeper, and more effective.

Looking back at his growth journey with FPT Software, he shares a straightforward perspective: investing in people is always a two-way story. The organization can create opportunities, pave the way, and provide support, but each individual also needs to proactively learn, embrace challenges, and not be afraid of failure.
